Shetland Season 10

In this tenth instalment of the long-running Scottish crime drama, Detectives DI Ruth Calder (played by Ashley Jensen) and DI Alison “Tosh” McIntosh (played by Alison O’Donnell) are called to the remote hamlet of Lunniswick in the Shetland Isles when the body of retired social worker Eadie Tulloch is discovered outdoors, exposed to the elements for days.

As Calder and Tosh dig into the murder, they find a community bound by old grievances, hidden relationships and quiet resentments. Eadie hadn’t spoken to her son Ed in years, and several locals—such as Arthur Mair, his daughter Isobel, and neighbour David Powell have dark pasts and ambiguous connections to the victim.

At the same time, the season explores deeper character arcs: Tosh’s role expands and her personal life subtly threads into the case, while Calder faces professional and emotional pressures in her new leadership. The layered investigation tests loyalties, unearths long buried secrets and challenges the investigative team’s resolve.

The mood is atmospheric and the setting rugged and isolated true to Shetland’s trademark style making the crime feel entwined with the landscape and the community’s history.
